No greater Love

A couple of weeks ago on my first post, we spoke about how our generation is basically concerned with the superficial things and how we have forgotten the value of the things that truly matter. Furthermore, how we are caught up in living a facade for the sake of pleasing the people around us. Now that we have spoken and brought awareness to the problems, I want to use this post to bring to light another issue I feel we might be missing and how we can combat this problem.

Do you ever come to a place where you feel is the peak of pressure season be it work, school, struggles to juggle work-life balance you name it and the anxiety feels like its mounting on you? Or life is moving at the speed of lightning and having time to stop think and refresh feels like a luxury for you. We know something in us is missing but as usual, our health is never a priority because our lives are characterized by infinite deadlines that we feel always need to come first before our mental well-being.

It feels like you want to reach out and talk to someone about it. But the thought of being too vulnerable in our society today brings some kind of shame. Will they say you are not “man enough” or you should tough it up and move on? These are some of the doubts you probably ponder on? We battle too much we cannot deal with by ourselves, and it feels as if sometimes life is like a ticking time bomb waiting to take its course. We continue floating through the world once again trying to fight the issues at hand by not addressing them

We go about our days the normal way, trying to distract ourselves in the most time-consuming ways. That is spending hours upon hours with people for the sake of being in the company of people because we don’t particularly want to feel alone. You feel the tears start to gush down your cheeks like the turbulent waters of the Pacific Ocean and feel as if the world is crumbling on you. You feel as if there is a void that desperately needs to be filled but you cannot point out by what exactly. You blame it on your past, your friends or family, but these are just mere excuses you are trying to find. You feel as though you need to always be in the company of other people to feel the warmth of love even though the love you offer them is never the love reciprocated back to you. What does that leave you with? More sadness, frustration, unfulfilled promises, bitterness you name it! You find it so easy to pin the blame on anything you can find, but you keep running away from the real reason making you weary.
Dear readers the experiences I am defining are not far-fetched, but I am trying to depict to you what a lot of people subconsciously face but are never brave enough to admit. Which is a very dangerous place. A place where you feel you need solace from other people in order to feel whole.

I believe the times when we are most vulnerable are the times we tend to make the decisions that will engulf us in regret for the rest of our lives. The times we are most vulnerable are the times the enemy comes to fill our heads with lies like we are unworthy of God’s love or we will never amount to anything I life. These are the times the enemy tells us to bury our hopes and dreams and reminds us of the circumstances when we failed so we are not brave enough to try again. He deceives us by telling us that we are not worthy enough to receive the father’s love but then again we are reminded that even though our sin was great, his love was greater.

There is no earthly figure that could ever make us feel whole, complete or satisfied especially when we keep running away from the main issue to find things to make us temporarily happy.

Sometimes we have to feel that emptiness on the inside for us to realize that we need much more than earthly delights and there is so much more to yearn for. Something that feels more tangible, long-lasting and unconditional and that is the love of God. There is no greater love dear readers than this type of love and I am also still in the process of growing and learning how to simply rely on this infinite source of love.

What if you feel like you don’t deserve it or you don’t particularly look like the kind to be called a son or a daughter?
We find the answers rooted in his word. Romans 8:35 which reads:
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or danger or sword? Meaning nothing can ever separate you from the love that God has for every single one of you.
So, any time you feel overwhelmed or the enemy tries to fill your head with doubts, remind yourself that God always has a greater plan for you and he is the infinite source that will never run dry or fail.
What are some of the scriptures that remind you of God’s unfailing promises? Feel free to leave a comment below

The routine.....

On a daily basis I would say I wake up and without putting much thought into it I find myself aimlessly scrolling through my Facebook page. After looking at the latest trends or scrolling through comments on pages such as The Shaderoom.com that are absolutely irrelevant to my life, I move onto the next task of the day. My Instagram feed. The same routine is repeated with the exception being the fact that I need to visit some fashion pages, so I can be able dress to impress or slay them all “so they see me and hype me up’. Next up I am ostentatiously dressed in my body-hugging dress and excruciatingly painful heels ignoring the fact that I am extremely uncomfortable in what I am wearing. But Beyoncé did tell us that “Pretty Hurts “So it automatically becomes a mantra we have to live up to since queen Bey sang it and anything she sings is “completely okay” ………….

I stumble and struggle to crawl out of my bed and realize I’ve forgotten the most vital and most important agenda of the day. I forgot to open my Snapchat and keep up with the latest “buzz in town “or what the Kardashians were up to or maybe how sun kissed my friend looked while on vacation because life is nothing but a bed of roses like we show on our social media. Next up, I get a glimpse of my whatsapp story and Facebook feed just to keep up with Amai Titi then of course Madam Boss.

Well I hope the symbolism I have used, or the false representation of my typical day is giving you an idea of the picture I am trying to create

Anyways, we have totally disregarded the fact that we have the power to set ourselves free from the bonds and shackles the world and fashion has enslaved us to and become the free authentic selves we were created to be.

I hear they have branded us “The millennials". “The Selfie Generation”. “The Trophy Generation.” The list goes on and on, to name a few spoiled, irresponsible, reckless unreliable, lazy, indecisive, highly dependent, selfish ,spoiled……..What exactly am I trying to point out ?As painful, debilitating and demeaning these words may seem, shall we then turn a blind eye to what are slowly seemingly becoming our daily realities? Are we slowly losing our sense of purpose and letting societal pressure dictate our daily lifestyles?

One of the greatest things that we do not see and realize is the potential that each and every single one of us carries. We wait for approval for each and every thing from society and feel that because everyone is doing something , it automatically becomes okay (I know I am not the only one guilty). But thats besides the point. What happened to the days when it was okay to do something for yourself or we have to wait for an "influencer " to do it before we get the go for it to be socially acceptable?

Anyways I am not trying to impose a sudden 360 degree shift upon anyone's life but all I am trying to say is we can make the conscious effort to take time from the noise of the world and introspect, and remind or ask ourselves if we are really walking in purpose. In life we are always faced with the ability to make choices that govern what our futures will look like a few years from now. Choice A ,we stagger upon life, living a facade and impressing people that genuinely do not care about us.Choice B , we prove all the people that have already concluded that we are a senseless generation wrong and write our own destinies. The choice is in our hands!
